THE summer shooting season at Rathfriland Clay Pigeon Club kicked off recently, on Thursday, 3 May.
The club enjoyed a decent start to proceedings, finishing the night with a total of eight lines, with five shooters reaching the final.
The five, namely Ronnie Peters, Frank McKay, William Robinson, George Gracey, and David Graham, shot off in good light, but it was Peters and Graham who came out on top, both hitting 20/59 scores.
A head-to-head shoot-off was to follow, with Rathfriland man Graham edging Peters to take the first victory of the summer with another fantastic 20/60 score. Final results were as follows;
1st, David Graham; 2nd, Ronnie Peters; 3rd, George Gracey
Shooters are reminded that competition at Rathfriland will continue next Thursday, 10 May, and every Thursday evening, for the remainder of the summer.
Shooting will commence from 6pm, and all are welcome.
