Eugene beats his brother in cup

THE first round of the Haughton Smyth Cup has almost been completed.

The match everyone was looking forward to was the clash of the Weir brothers, Damian and Eugene. At the end of a thrilling contest, there was only one hole in it and that was in favour of Eugene.

Here are the results:

James Clarke beat Gary McCartney 4 and 3; Martin McAleenan w/o Philip Mallon; Peter Hillen beat Paul Simpson 5 and 4; Dennis Watt beat D. Crory 2 and 1; Trevor Woods beat Rory Madeley 2 up; Eugene Weir beat Damian Weir 1 up; Bruce McCandless beat Ian Young 2 and 1.

The result of the match between Paul McAleavey and Neil Diamond has not yet been posted.
