No Mourne-ing by Dromore after first win of 2010

Kilkeel 0

Dromore 4

DROMORE played away in their first league game since December and enjoyed an emphatic 4-0 win under the picturesque backdrop of the snow capped Mournes.

However Dromore started slowly and could have been punished for their compliancy had it not been for some outstanding saves from keeper Clare Lowry and a dramatic goal line clearance by captain Laura Wilson.

Dromore then settled into the game and began to show their dominance with great play from Katie McQuillan and Robyn McKee who tore the opposition apart with their skill and pace.

The deadlock was broken after 25 minutes when the ball broke free in midfield and Kate Lutton threaded a pass through to Emma Wilson who found McQuillan in space in the circle.

She calmly beat the keeper and slotted the ball into the net to take the lead.

Early in the second half player of the match McQuillan bagged a brace with a brilliant individual goal taking the ball from the 25 yard line, beating two defenders and striking the ball into the back of the net.

Irish U16 cap Kerry McDonald put the result beyond doubt with a well struck shot into the back of the net from a rebound.

Kilkeel battled back with some good attacking runs but Dromore’s defence stayed cool under pressure.

Goal number four came from a well worked move down the right starting when Ulster U21 Rachel Russell, who put in an eye catching performance throughout the match, played the ball through to an unmarked Emma Wilson who scored a strikers’ goal only needing one deft touch to wrong foot the keeper and find the backboard.

Dromore stayed in control of the match until the final whistle to wrap up an excellent team performance and avenge a defeat earlier in the season.
