What a great year it has been.

We had good weather, keen competition, a course in beautiful condition and lots of fun. What more could you ask for?

The highlights of the season, as far as the teams were concerned, were the performances of the Senior Cup and the Carlingford Cup teams.

Banbridge won the Ulster section of the Senior Cup and lost narrowly in the All-Ireland semi-final. They won the Carlingford Cup for the first time in 40 years.

The juveniles did well to win the Mahaffy Shield.

JANUARY

2nd- Merton McDowell won the first sweep of the year, just as he did in 2013.

4th- James Wilson won the first Saturday Sweep of the year. He would go on to win the Golfer of the Year title and reduce his handicap from 23 to 12.

13th- Paul Wylie’s winning score of 38 points for 13 holes equalled the record.

FEBRUARY

22nd- James Wilson won the Saturday Sweep once again and he’s still playing off 23.

MARCH

1st- Cathal McAnarney had a hole in one at the 8th.

16th- Donald and Jane Doyle won the Captain’s “Drive In” Mixed Foursomes’

17th- Harry Burnside won the St. Patrick’s Day competition.

29th- Conor Mulholland won the Bill McMaster Memorial Trophy with 42 points.

APRIL

5th- James Wilson again! He won the Teddy Reade Cup with 35 points.

11th- James Wilson cut four shots on general play.

12th- Joe Glass led the qualifiers in the Haughton Smyth Cup with a nett 63.

17th- Gerry McBrien won the first of the Thursday Opens with a nett 59.

19th- Ivan Rushe won the IPGA Tankard with 44 points.

21st- Jonathan Burns finished with four 3’s to win the Easter Monday Medal.

22nd- Jonathan Brush had a hole-in-one at the Ulster Boy’s Under-16 Championship at Kirkistown.

MAY

3rd- Wallace Henry won the Pro’s Prize with a nett 61 and earned a trip to Turnberry.

4th- Banbridge were the leading qualifiers in the Jimmy Bruen at Spa.

10th- Paul Mark won the Modern Tyre Services sponsored competition with 43 points.

15th- Eugene Weir won the Thursday Open with 40 points.

17th- Alan McVey won the Mary Peters Sports Trust competition with 43 points.

25th- Banbridge qualified in the Senior Cup at Warrenpoint.

25th- Banbridge beat Royal Co Down in the Ulster Cup.

30th- Jane Doyle and Jamie Thompson won the club mixed foursomes.

JUNE

8th- Megan Whan and Jamie Thompson won the Longmore Family mixed foursomes.

13th- The team of Jason Greenaway, Hugo Downey, Gordon Haire and Neville Reid won the Woody-Spla Golf Day competition.

20th- Joe and Alana Glass won the Captain’s Mixed Foursomes.

21st- Morris Phillips won the Captain’s Prize with 42 points.

21st- Brendan Meade had a hole-in-one on Captain’s Day.

28th- The club captain, Noel McSherry, won the Mizuno with a nett 58.

29th- The Senior Cup team beat both Slieve Russell and Tandrageeat at Warrenpoint.

29th- The Fred Daly team came back from 2-5 down to beat Malone in round 4.

JULY

11th- Banbridge reached the semi-final of the B&D by beating Cairndhu.

19th- Eamon McConville won the Fred Daly Memorial with 44 points..

AUGUST

1st- Joe and Alana Glass won the Lady Captain’s mixed foursomes.

2nd- Banbridge lost to Carnalea in the final of the Ava Shield at Clandeboye.

9th- James Wilson won the Bin 66 sponsored competition with 43 points.

9th- Rory Leonard shot a course record 64 in the Bin 66.

13th- Banbridge juveniles won the Mahaffy Shield.

17th- Banbridge beat Dunmurry in the Ulster semi-final of the Senior Cup at Royal Portrush. They then beat Rosapenna in the final.

20th- Conor McCullough won the Juvenile’s Captains Day with 40 points.

22nd- Banbridge lost to Shandon Park in the semi-final of the B&D.

23rd- Jonathan Burns, Luke Crory, Brian Mulholland and Mark Hodgen were the winners of the four scratch cups.

30th- On Juveniles Day, Jack McKerr won the Small Cup and Ruairi O’Neill won the Pepper Shield.

31st- Banbridge beat Kilkeel in the semi-final of the Carlingford Cup.

SEPTEMBER

5th- The Ladies beat the Gents 11-9 in the Horseshoe.

6th- Gareth Moody and Aaron Buchanan won the President’s Prize. Barry Casey won the day Prize with 44 points.

7th- David and Jamie Thompson won the Father and Son competition.

10th- Sherwin Curran won the John Ervine Memorial Cup at Roganstown.

12th – Kevin McKay beat Dean Nicoletti in the final of the Matchplay Championship.

12th- Colin Wilton beat Conor Mulholland in the final of the Haughton Smyth Cup.

13th- Aidy McEvoy won Champion’s Day with 49 points, a nett 56. Jonathan Shannon was crowned “champion of champions”.

119th- The Banbridge Senior Cup team lost to County Sligo in the All-Ireland semi-final at Carlton House.

20th- Ivan Rushe won the Lions Cup with 42 points.

28th- Rory Madeley and Megan Whan won the club mixed foursomes championship.

OCTOBER

2nd- Brian Parkes won the PIGS President’s Day at Lisburn with 41 points.

5th- Banbridge won the Carlingford Cup for the first time in 40 years when they beat Dundalk in the final.

17th- Connor Doran won the Reavey Scratch Cup with a gross 67.

NOVEMBER

8th- Brian Coburn, a lifetime member of the club and a past captain, died.

8th- Colin McKinney had a hole-in-one at the 12th hole.

29th- The Winter League, sponsored by Bann Hire Company, was won by team 7, captained by Sean McGreevey.

DECEMBER

6th- James Wilson was presented with the Golfer of The Year Trophy at the Winter League Dinner.
