U12s take a big leap towards league title

Tullylish U12s 3-15 Rostrevor U12s 3-5

Tullylish Under-12s took a giant step closer to winning the league title with a comprehensive win away to a strong Rostrevor outfit last Sunday morning.

The locals got off to a great start when midfielder Conor Molloy rammed home a goal after just two minutes but Rostrevor replied shortly after when they scored a goal to level things up after five minutes.

‘Lish regrouped and took the lead again when corner forward Liam Campbell hooked the ball over his shoulder for a sublime point, but again Rostrevor hit back with a sucker punch goal a minute later.

The goal seemed to galvanise Tullylish as they scored nine fantastic points without reply to race into an eight point lead. The pick of these points was three super efforts from distance from midfielder Odhran Connolly and a couple from the left boot of sharp shooter Liam Campbell after some great build-up play. Caolan Doyle scored a peach of a point from 30 yards and half back Ronan Campbell got in on the act when he hit the final point of the half out on the left wing.

This scoring frenzy continued in the second half as that man Liam Campbell again fired over another great effort and that was followed by a sweet strike from Shea Winters to leave 11 between the sides.

Conor Molloy, who was moved to full forward, added another as the busy Odhran Connolly split the posts - a score that really put Tullylish out of sight.

Rostrevor did add a couple of points and a goal late on but it wasn’t enough to give the visitors a scare as they put the game to bed with a blast of points from Liam Campbell, Caolan Doyle and Conor Molloy.

Fine score taking was the catalyst for this much needed victory but credit must go to the superb defending of Stephen Doran, Ronan Campbell, Ben McNally and goalkeeper Keelan Keetley who made a spectacular save late into the game.
