Ten holes deficit no problem for the Sam Rutherford team

The Banbridge Sam Rutherford Cup team, captained by Shane McCrory, were 10 holes down going into the home leg of their second round match against Omagh.

It doesn’t sound good but, in the greensomes format, a few holes can easily be retrieved.

Gareth Matthews and Neil Clydesdale were in sublime form and won by 4 holes up.

Adam McGregor and Malcolm Russell made few mistakes and they won 5 up.

Mark McCoy and Peter Hillen combined perfectly and won 4 up.

The pendulum had swung in favour of Banbridge who were now 3 holes up overall.

Matthew Mallon and Roy Sipson were 5 up after 15 holes when they were called in.

This was a very impressive win for Banbridge and it is going to take a really good team to beat them. They have the cup in their sights.
