The season is fast coming to an end for West Down Wheelers Cycling Club, this week they have their 10 mile TT on the Rathfriland Road without any TT gear.

This is sure to spring a few surprises as everyone is on a level playing field.

Then they have just another 10 mile on the Castlewellan Road, followed by a 5 mile, then finish off with the hillclimb.

2014 has been a very successful year’s racing in club races, plus the top riders doing not only themselves but the club proud.

The racing has been tough, especially in the 5 Road Races, and 5 Aussie/Pursuits with an average of 24 riders taking part, and what has made it harder this year is the fact that most of the riders have taking part in the open races.

To all the riders who have supported the club throughout the year, TVR CC, Banbridge CC, Clann Eirann CC, and to Dromara CC, who never missed a race, a very big thank you.

You cannot hold races without a loyal band of workers who give up their spare time to help in whatever way they can, so to those who helped this year, Billy Maxwell, Derek Gamble, Will and Allison Maxwell, Berty and Barbara Wilkinson, Vincent McAfee, Karl Wells, James Philips, and Eddy Cantly,

On Tuesday night three brave souls in wet cool conditions took part in the Steven Savage Memorial 25 mile TT on the Castlewellan Road, Mark, Allister, and Geoff. And how well they did; Mark 62, Allister 65 and Geoff in his 1st ever 25 in this his first year racing, 67.
