Holders Dunbarton maintained a firm grip on their NI Private Greens League Senior Cup when they travelled to Bangor on Thursday to face Pickie’s B team.

The Gilford side went into the game as firm favourites but would have been wary of what can be a tricky green and wouldn’t have been taking anything for granted.

The need not have worried too much though as they made it safely through to the quarter final stage without any major concern, securing a comfortable 51 shot win (52-103).

David Copeland, Jack Moffett, Michael Merritt and Derick Wilson on rink one defeated skip Nat Belch 20-21.

Sean & Kieran Trainor, Alan Paul and Martin Trainor on two won their game against skip Robbie Dornan 13-23.

On rink three, Chris Trainor, Chris Mulholland, Gary McElroy and Conor McCartan won 11-20 against skip Jackie Murdoch.

Andy Hughes’ rink on number four of James Kelly, Tony Bell and Myles Greenfield returned impressive 8-39 winners over skip Nicky Irwin.

The win means the holders will return to Pickie on Thursday 23rd June where this time they will face Picke A team, who defeated Larne in the previous round. The winners will qualify for the semi finals to be played in July.
