A large crowd of members gathered in the clubhouse last Saturday evening to say their farewells to Martin Drain, the very popular assistant professional at Banbridge Golf Club.

Martin has been at the club for three and a half years, learning his trade under the watchful eye of the senior professional, Jason Greenaway.

During those years, Martin secured his degree through Birmingham University in Golf Studies. He passed with flying colours.

Teaching is Martin’s first love and he has built up a tremendous reputation in a very short time. His has a wonderful understanding of the game and he is so patient with everyone. He is just a gifted teacher.

Martin and his partner Anette are moving to Weimar in Germany to work at a prestigious golf complex.

Martin was a little emotional when he thanked all the members for their kindness. He has really enjoyed his stay at Banbridge and he couldn’t have wished for a better start to his professional career.

There is no doubt that Martin will be very successful in Germany. He is fulfilling his dream and we all wish him every happiness.
