Mixed fortunes for brothers

Round five of the Ulster Motocross Championships moved back to Seaforde for the Tommy Stewart Trophy.

In the Premier MX1 Class, Loughbrickland’s John Meara posted a sixth in race one on the big TMC Honda.

He was disappointed with his race two performance as after a bad start, he crashed out of the start of race two gashing his elbow enough to need stitches, and suffering a mild concussion, he finished the race a lap down, but withdrew to seek treatment.

Meanwhile, in the MX2 portion of the race, John’s brother Jason Meara ran out the overall winner on the AMR Honda, beating arch rival Glenn McCormick by three points.
