Islandderry anglers hold annual memorial competition

Islandderry Trout Anglers held their annual Hugh Brunty Memorial Fly Fishing Competition in Aid of Macmillan Cancer Suport at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore on Saturday.

A great day was had with good numbers of trout caught along with a bit of banter and good food. The club would like to say a big thank you to all who supported the competition and to all who donated prizes and ballots, thanks to your kind generosity £600 was raised for the charity and everyone who took part went home with a prize. Lurgan angler Bill Johnston took first place with a 3 fish bag weight of 11lb10, 2nd was fellow Lurgan angler John Hamiliton with 3 fish for 10lb11 and third was Belfast angler Paddy Brunty with 3 fish for 10lb1. The next competition at Islandderry is round 2 of the winter league on Saturday 29 November and of course there is also the popular Boxing Day competition.
