Good performance earns Juniors five points

In their game against Holywood Dromore’S juniors put in a good performance to return home with a good victory of 11 shots and five points.

The first half went in favour of the locals with a seven shot advantage; the next quarter saw Holywood take a two shot lead with the locals putting in a big finish to get over the line.

Rink 1: I Houston, J Dickson, H Maxwell, T Sudlow - A poor first half saw them fall nine in arrears. the next five ends were no better and a big defeat was on the books, down by 15 shots. Plan B was put into action in into the last six ends, taking the mat up the green and this paid off to score 13 shots conceding none to finish down two.

Rink 2: K Poots, M McDowell, S Dugan A Sudlow - A close battle in the first half saw them fall behind by two. By the end of the next quarter they were down by eight. A poor afternoon ended with the rink finishing 16 down.

Rink 3: J Black, J Cunningham, S Harrison, S Malcomson - A good day at the office for this rink. They were 11 to the good at the halfway stage, moving on to 16 at three quarter with a victory of 20 at the end.

Rink 4: C Davis, W Armstrong, T Wilson, D Burns: A good first half saw this rink in good position at the halfway point. At three quarter mark they were five up, finishing with a good victory of nine.

Tonight (Tuesday) the A team is away to Garvey and on Saturday will play Banbridge away. The Juniors will be at home to Newry - all of these are league games.

In the NIBA competitions G Clinghan found M McHugh too good on the day and the rink of G Dawson, G McDowell, A Johnston and D McCandless, despite a good start, were beaten by C Craig (Balmoral),
