SATURDAY July 21 and whilst Tour de France saw the penultimate stage of this year’s tour, Banbridge CC saw stage 14 of 21 in this year’s club league.
This time another handicapped 10 mile time trial, although with somewhat more difficulty than others run before.
This was the annual 10 mile hilly, run on the hilly road from Moneyslane up to Finnis and back taking in 340m of climbing. Weather was good for the race with dry roads, bright skies and a mild temperature of around 16c.
First off was Paul Anderson, whom was defending the cup having been the winner for the two years previous.
It was not to be this year however, with a well deserved victory going to Paul Carlisle. Paul has been consistently strong this year, contesting the win in many of the road races he has entered. He took the win having passed the defending Cup holder on the road and posting the best time of 30:12 as well as winning on handicap.
Second on the day was Brian Curran who has now attended every club race this year and now leads the club league. Brian posted a time of 31:53 with third place going to Paul Anderson at 33:44
