Finaghy fight back to earn a draw

FINAGHY came back to snatch a draw in a keenly contested and exciting clash between the local rivals in NIBA Division Four at Wedderburn Park.

In the end both teams were content with 3.5 points each, which eases them that little bit up the League table.

Two threes helped Denis Rankin to an 11-6 lead at the tenth, but a three and a four helped put John Campbell 16-11 in front and Fghy went on to win by six shots.

Two threes and two fives helped Bobby Carroll to a 21-2 lead at the tenth and another three to Garvey made it 24-9 at 15 ends. Greg Peacock won the last six ends 6-5 and narrowed Garvey’s winning margin to 14 shots.

A four and a three helped Jim Chapman to a 13-7 lead at the tenth and 17-9 at 15 ends. Randal Megrath came back strongly over the last six ends but just lost by a shot.

A three helped Altron Reid to a 9-6 lead at the tenth but five ends later Trevor Flack was 13-10 ahead and Finaghy added a three to win by nine shots.
