The Irish Disabled Fly Fishing Association held their fundraiser pairs competiton at Islandderry Fishery on Sunday.

The competition was a success with a great turnout of anglers, generating over £300 for the Irish Disabled Fly Fishing team.

The weather stayed pleasant and the fish were in great form with a lot of trout being released by most anglers including a good number of 5lb+ fish giving some very impressive four fish bag weights.

The competition was very close with only two ounces separating first and second place. IDDFFA team member Jackie Childs and partner Dessie McCullough, Ballynure just beat father and son team Benji and Benny Banks, Lurgan into first with a four fish bag weight of 19lb6 to 19lb4.

Third place went to Dromore anglers Andy McCandless and James Herdman with four fish for 18lb9 while Lisburn anglers Davy Thomson and Barry McKibben took fourth with four fish weight of 18lb9.

Islandderry’s own club member Liam Brunty, Belfast and boat partner Davy Clements, Banbridge finished in fifth place with four fish for 18lb while visiting members from Straid Mel Campbel and Ray McKeeman finished in sixth place with four fish for 17lb6.

Due to the competition being such a success another pairs competition has been set for Sunday December 8 at Islandderry Fishery.
