Colin fires in the lowest score of the season to seal Lady Captain’s prize

Colin Wilton swung his way to the lowest gross score of the season at Banbridge and it took it to claim the Lady Captain’s prize in the Thursday Open on count-back.

He bagged seven birdies on his way to a four under par 65 but it was his good back nine that sealed the top prize in Thursday’s competition.

Is this a new course record for the newly designed course? It is certainly the best gross score this season.

The Lady Captain, Denise McBrien, had a special prize for the winner, runner-up and best gross.

There were four players with 41 points and all four featured in the prizes.

Sam Wilkinson (24) and Callum Barnes (7) both came close with 40 points each.

Best Gross: William Malcolmson (5) 69.

MONDAY 28TH JULY

Lady Captain denise also put up a prize for the Men’s Sweep last Monday and it was Philip Mallon who come out on top.

There is no more loyal supporter of the Monday Sweep than Philip.

1st- Philip Mallon (10) 34 points.

2nd- Tom Nelson (25) 33 points.

3rd- Brian Parkes (16) 32 points.

WEDNESDAY 30TH JULY

This week’s junior competition was also a special one for the juvenile members, with the Lady Captain again generously presented by the Lady Captain, Denise McBrien.

James Thompson (10) and Thomas McKibben (22) won the two competitions of the white and yellow tee-boxes respectively put they were both pushed all the way.

White Blocks: 1st- Jamie Thompson (10) 41 points.

2nd- Luke Crory (9) 40 points.

3rd- Michael Young (10) 39 points.

Yellow Blocks: 1st- Thomas McKibben (22) 43 points.

2nd- Matthew Elliott (17) 42 points.

3rd- Matthew Doyle (23) 41 pts.

John Poots has set a new record for the Sunday Sweep. With this win last Sunday, John becomes the first player in modern times to win this sweep on six occasions in any calendar year. What a player!
