Banbridge Golf Club’s men’s section, entered 18 inter-club competitions this season.

They performed really well in most of them and the highlight, so far, was the category one players winning the Ulster section of the Senior Cup.

There is one remaining chance of further glory.

The Carlingford Cup team, captained by Cathal O’Neill, have reached the final, where they will play Dundalk.

The away leg of the final will be played at Dundalk on Saturday 4 October. The home leg will be played on the following day.

Cathal has announced his team for the first leg.

It reads: Neil Madeley, Paul McAleavey, Peter Hillen Luke Crory, Conor Mulholland, Matthew Mallon, Joshua Crory and Jamie Thompson.

It’s an absorbing blend of youth and experience and it will be interesting to see how they fare.

It all adds a little excitement to the end of the season. We wish Cathal and his team every success.
