Big push as season draws to a close

It was business as usual at Rathfriland, as the club held their latest 20-bird DTL, held Thursday, 22 August.

One of the club’s busier nights of the summer saw a total of ten lines shot, with the shooters making a big push before the end of the long summer nights.

The shoot-off was made up of three shooters who managed to hit the 20/60 score. Enoch McCauley was the first to make it, but was soon followed Geoff Dale, who continued his sparkling form shown throughout the summer at Rathfriland, by hitting not just one, but three 20/60 scores over the course of the night. The shoot-off was completed by the late arrival of veteran shooter Noel Carson, who continues to produce some remarkable shooting.

With the light beginning to fade, it was Geoff Dale who dropped out first, with both McCauley and Carson shooting further 20/60 scores. It would then take a round of single-barrel competition to separate the pair, with Enoch McCauley holding his nerve to fight off the tough opposition, to take the win.

1st, Enoch McCauley; 2nd, Noel Carson; 3rd, Geoff Dale

Next Thursday sees the final night of the club’s summer shooting. Shooting will commence from 6pm as usual, and shooters are encouraged to make the most of it.
