Bann recover from shaky start to see off Bangor

Bann got off to a shaky start in their second league game of the season with Bangor dominating the court from the starting whistle.

The girls found their rhythm and worked together, creating some much needed turnovers to end the first quarter 10-8.

Bann continued to keep the pressure on a relentless Bangor side but the formidable defensive pairing of Christine Cartmill in GK and Amanda Johnston in GD forced distance between the Bangor shooters and the net.

Bann used the steals to their advantage, working the ball well up the court using Joanne Kerr in WD, Emma Boyd in C and Lynn Donaldson in WA to keep the momentum flowing and ensuring the ball reached the attacking players to create more chances on goal for Bann.

A strong Bangor defence kept the pressure on the Bann attack making them work hard to get the ball safely into the shooting circle but determination from shooters Sarah Porter in GA and Emma Cartmill in GS along with continuous movement on the circle edge from Lynn Donaldson and Emma Boyd ensured the Bann shooters received the ball and maintained their lead. Bann made three changes in the final quarter switching Emma Cartmill into WA and bringing on Paula McBride as GS and Cathy Buchanan as GK. The game finished 36-31.
