Racing returned to the high street in Banbridge on Wednesday night when Banbridge CC hosted their evening of criterium races.
Kicking the proceedings off at 7pm were the over 50s and ladies. As the main bunch whittled down it was Paul Swenarton of North Down who led home the bunch sprint to take the win from Paul McGuckin and Martin Jones of Maryland Wheelers.
It was the A3 riders who provided the largest number of riders for the 2ndrace of the evening. Darragh McCarter of Omagh led home for the win having smartly followed the wheels.
He was closely followed by Phillip Belshaw and David Montgomery who completed the podium in that order.
The A1/A2 race saw a compact but quality field of approximately 25 riders. Few expected East Antrim Audi’s Gary Cranston to hold it for the full final lap, as so many efforts had been in vain, but as he emerged from the final corner it was clear he was going to comfortably take the victory.
He beat Thomas Martin and local rider Roger Aiken.
