Mengal Taggers are going for All-Ireland glory

THE Mengal Taggers will be hoping to go one step better than last year’s second place at tag rugby’s All-Ireland Championships this weekend in Dublin.

After an incredible season, which saw them break the world record for the longest game of tag rugby ever played with the Tropics, and winning both the spring and summer leagues, the Taggers are well placed going into the tournament.

However, standing in their way will be eight other teams including the current champions, the Bircroft Panthers, who are one of the best sides in the country and will be their first opponents.

The tournament is played in a league format with the top two sides then playing off for the honour.

The Tropics will also be competing in the B section of the Championships after finishing up as runners-up of their league.
