Ladies pick up five league points

THE weather has played havoc with Banbridge Ladies’ games, meaning the last two league matches against Antrim Lawn and Carrick were postponed.

The match against Lurgan on Thursday June 14 went ahead at Lurgan and resulted in a win for Banbridge with five league points.

Rink results were as follows:

Rink 1: E. Whyte, D. Johnston, HG. Steenson, M. Martin - 17–17 ¼

Rink 2: H. Shepherd, J. Nesbitt, C. McDermott, M. Campbell - 20–12 ¾

Rink 3: I. Hozack, L. Byrne, H. Wilkinson, M. Adams - 21–7 ½

Rink 4: A. Donald, R. McGivern, M. Ewart, R. McAdam - 17 – 22

There will be no league match this week as the British Isles Championships and the Home Internationals are being held at Ward Park, Bangor from June 17-21. The next League match will be on June 28 when Banbridge are hosts to Donaghadee.

The only members still participating in the NIWBA Championships are to be congratulated, with Agnes Donald, Edith Whyte and Cassie McDermott having had a good win over the Ward Park trio, skipped by Dorothy Kane, seeing them through to the semi-finals of the Triples. Well done!
