Juniors show their form in Portadown

DROMORE Juniors travelled to Edenvilla Sports Complex to participate in Portadown’s tournament against Armagh, Banbridge,Lurgan and hosts Portadown.

It was a superb tournament with the sunshining on play like a summer’s day.

As the smell of burgers and butties wafted through the air, the girls played six a-side matches to the sound of the latest hits.

Between play the various teams had great camaradie as they displayed their dance moves which all added to the fun of the event.

On the pitch however Dromore got down to the serious business of match play and displayed great form throughout the age groups. Primary 5 had wins against Portadown B 4-0 and Armagh 3-1, they held Lurgan to a draw 1-1 and lost out to evetual winners hosts Portadown.

Primary 6 exhibited strong skills to win all their matches with strong score lines, 4-0 against Portadown B, 3-0 against Armagh and 2-1 against Banbridge. They held well against Portadown, winners of the age group who eventally took them to 2-1.

Goalscorers Thea Wilson, AJ Welshman and top scorer Katie McDonald were on top form. Defence was superb in this line up from Emer Melville and Thea Wilson. New girls to the club Brook Hamilton and Tara Kelly showed great play in their first outing with the club.

Primary 7 had a strong day against Armagh 4-3 and Portadown B. Goal scorers were Olivia, Megan and Kelly.

It was a grand day out for the juniors with great teamwork and hockey skills on display.

As awlays with Dromore our parents were out in support cheering the girls on and enjoyinhg the sunshine.
