Juniors lose by 24 shots

DROMORE Juniors were away to League leaders Cloughey in their league fixture last Saturday and had to be content with one point in a 24-shot defeat.

Rink 1: E Walker, S Harrison, G McDowell, T Sudlow.

Rink 2: S Dugan, S Harrison, T Gribben, S Malcomson.

Rink 3: J Black, R Bolton, A Sudlow, I Houston.

Rink 4: J Topping, R Elliott, A Clinghan, T Wilson.

The juniors were in deep trouble after five ends, down by 17 and on a practise green where they were finding the going tough. Sudlow and Malcomson were both in arrears of six, Houston was three down and Wilson was down by two.

Twenty-one was the margin at the halfway stage. Sudlow was just two behind, Malcomson was 10 down, Houston was at six and Wilson trailed by two.

The juniors were beginning to get the speed of the green at three quarter stage but were still 22 behind. Sudlow was a single ahead, Malcomson was 17 behind, Houston was six in arrears and Wilson was all square.

In the final six ends the locals could not get the deficit down any and were 24 behind. Sudlow finished five ahead, Malcomson was 22 in arrears, Houston was still trailing by six and Wilson was down by one.

This Saturday the A team are at home to Castle and the B team are away to 1st Ballynacarrett – both are league games.
