On Sunday Dromore Juniors headed to Edenvilla for the Portadown club’s tournament where they were joined by Banbridge, Lurgan and Pegasus.

The Portadown club exhibited their usual hospitality and well run tournament to ensure all the girls had a good day at the tournament. Dromore sent one team in each age group one accompanied by team coaches, managers and our very supportive band of parents to cheer us on.

Primary 5 did well with wins and a lot of goals scored with Ruby Wilson scoring three, Pippa Wilson scoring two and Sophie Malcolmson one.

This is a strong team which has matured and the club has hopes they will follow their very successful year last year. Primary 6 played well holding Banbridge to 2-0 and Portadown B to 1-0 and a scoreless draw against Portadown A.

Primary 7 started off very strong with decisive wins and great play against Pegasus 1-0, Portadown B 3-0 and Banbridge 4-1. Against Lurgan they lost form and played a bewildered match to lose 3-0.

This strong, mature team regrouped and under guidance of coach Tara Malcolmson pulled it back to play a very strong final game against Portadown and although they lost 1-0 seconds before the final tournament whistle, which pushed them into third, their team play was exquisite.

The club has high hopes for this strong teamgoals came from Zara Greenfield and the dependable scorer Katie McDonald with two beautiful goals from Tara Kelly who managed to find those special goals from the rebound.
