Johnstone new boss at Moneyslane

David Johnstone has been confirmed as Moneyslane’s new manager with John Davenport as his assistant.

Johnstone has a UEFA A License and has previously taken care-taker charge of Loughgall for 12 games in the Premiership and also managed Annagh United in Championship Two between 2010 and 2012.

He began his playing career at Moneyslane in the Newcastle League in 1989 and went on to play for Ards in the Premier League. He has most recently been coaching Portadown’s reserve team.

Johnstone said: “I feel that I have the required experience, skills, qualifications and track record to manage. Most importantly, I have the drive, desire, determination and enthusiasm needed to be successful.

“I believe I have a very modern and professional approach to the game, integrating the latest coaching thinking into the old fashioned, basic football principles of hard-work, team-spirit and a will to be the best you can be.”

Assistant Davenport is a former Moneyslane captain.

Their first game in charge will be a league game away to Bourneview YM on Saturday at Pepperton Park, Tandragee Road, Portadown (kick-off 2pm).
