Hockey club sign top forward

BANBRIDGE Hockey Club is delighted to announce the signing of Fraser Mills from Annadale Hockey Club.

The talented 25-year-old from Glengormley joins Banbridge after a spell playing for the Belfast side.

Fraser started his playing career with Mossley after progressing through their youth ranks. He then made the switch accross the city to join Annadale and has been a key component of their side over the last few seasons. Fraser has also represented Ireland and Ulster at every junior age group level.

Joining Banbridge has continued a family connection that has existed since Fraser’s grandfather Jack, a stalwart of the Club, was part of the Banbridge side that won the Irish Senior Cup in 1948. Jack later went on to be President of the Club during part of its most successful era in the mid-1980’s and continues to be a prominent member of the club today.

Head Coach Mark Tumilty commented, “Fraser has been one of the top forwards in Ireland over the last number of seasons and we are delighted to welcome him into our squad.

“His addition will strengthen an already potent attack and will create healthy competition within the squad as we enter the most exciting period of the season.”

Clearance has been received from Ulster Hockey and it is expected that Mills will make his debut in next weekend’s trip to Antrim in the Premier League.

The club is still awaiting confirmation from Irish Hockey regarding his eligibility for the IHL and the Irish Senior Cup, as he has not featured for Annadale in either competition this season. Mills has been allocated the number 16 shirt.
