Girls go goal crazy in Cookstown

MONEYSLANE F.C U11s Girls travelled to Cookstown at the weekend and played three games in the NIWFA Junior League.

In the first game they came up against Lurgan Town ‘A’ and Slane started this game slowly and found themselves 1-0 down in the first few minutes.

Almost straight away Slane got back into the game with some great passing between Chloe Davidson and Sophie Megaw which saw Sophie fire in an unstoppable shot past the Lurgan keeper.

Slane found their rhythm and were now on top and some great play by Laura Adams and Megan Ferguson resulted in the ball finding its way to Sophie Megaw who rounded the keeper to slot the ball in the net.

In the second half Slane changed it about with Megan Ferguson going into goals and Andrea Stevenson going into midfield. On came Victoria Davidson and Megan Davis.

Straight away both girls got into the action with Megan Davis having a couple of shots at goal. Victoria Davidson was firing in some great tackles in defence. Slane then added a third when Chloe Davidson found herself one on one with the keeper and dispatched the ball past her into the net.

Final score: Moneyslane 3 Lurgan Town ‘A’ 1.

In the second game Slane came up against Lurgan Town ‘B’ and this game was to be even more one sided as Lurgan had not enough players and they borrowed one of Slane’s.

Slane started the stronger with Chloe Davidson scoring in the first minute.

Sophie Megaw went into nets and she didn’t have much to do in the first half as any shots that came from Lurgan were straight at her.

Slane then doubled their lead when Andrea found Victoria who in turn passed to her sister Chloe and she shot first time past the Lurgan keeper and into the Lurgan net.

In the second half Laura Adams swapped with Megan Ferguson and played for the Lurgan team. She went on a run and passed two Slane players and slotted the ball in to the net.

Slane then went straight up the pitch and scored their third of the game when Chloe Davidson grabbed her third of the game. Not to be outdone Victoria Davidson scored with a fierce shot that left the keeper with no chance.

Then Laura found herself alone on the right and dispatched a shot that left the Slane keeper no chance.

Slane were not finished yet, in the last minute Chloe Davidson bagged her fourth of the game when Andrea put her through and she slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Final score: Moneyslane 5 Lurgan Town B 2
