Last Tuesday night, Dromara’s Gavin Magowan won his second race on the Katesbridge GP course in a matter of days.
West Down Wheelers hosted the race. Almost 30 riders took part some from local clubs TVR, Dromara, Banbridge, Newry Wheelers, VC Glendale and WDW.
What a race it was. It was as good as you will get, fast and furious and the flying scratch group caught the second middle group at the end of lap two.
Then half way round the 3third and last lap, they all came together. The last lap was quick and Gavin saw out the win in a big bunch finish.
The Wheelers’ Darren Lynas was the first Wheeler home and takes another round of the Imperial Cup. This was a very good, well Mmarshalled race and big thanks goes to Bertie and his band of marshalls, Allison, Barbara, Will, Richie, Billy, Matt and Karl.
To time-keeper Derek and to all the riders who made this a super race, a big thank-you from the club.
Next week’s race is a 10 mile TT on the Rathfriland Road for the Outlook Shield. On Thursday night, the Wheelers are holding a 10 mile TT on the Warrenpoint Road for the Eric Maxwelll Memorial. Sign on from six, first rider away at seven. Any rider who would love a go at racing and is not in a club then get in touch.
