Four-midable Town set up Ballinamallard tie

Banbridge Town 4-0 Queen’s University

Banbridge Town eased past Queen’s in the first round of the NIFL League Cup last night - and earned themselves a trip to Premiership side as a result.

Adam Pedlow’s half-volley put the home side in front midway through the first half, although Town will be disappointed that they didn’t go in further ahead at the break.

But the goals did come in the second period with Stephen O’Neill scoring twice to ensure the locals went through.

A stoppage time own goal by Brendan Agnew added to the students’ misery.

Banbridge were drawn at home in round two but, due to the lack of floodlights at Crystal Park, the Town will travel to Ferney Park on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.
