BANBRIDGE Town Juniors U16s continued their good start to the season with another excellent performance midweek against Newry, and were denied all three points due to a late equaliser from the visitors.
The Newry outfit began strongest with a number of fast paced attacks and went one up after 15 minutes and a few minutes later they were awarded a penalty but fortunately for Banbridge it went just wide.
That seemed to give the Juniors the wake up call they needed and they began to get into the game with some great play on the left hand side between David Gray and Lee Close.
In the 25th minute Lee Close played a great cross in to Josh Cargin who took the ball neatly on his chest and scored from close range with his left foot and just three minutes later Lee Close nearly added a second with a low shot going just wide.
Just before the break Josh Cargin got on the end of a through ball, controlled well and showed great composure to slot home the second.
In the second half the Juniors continued to pressurise with Finn Campbell and Josh Cargin combining well together up front to create numerous chances.
On the 55 minute mark Stephen McCavitt played a quick short corner to Reece Milligan whose cross was cleared to David Gray who brilliantly beat three players with great skill and bent his shot round the keeper for a 3-1 lead.
Newry responded immediately and caught the Banbridge defence on the hop to pull one back. Declan Loy who had an excellent game in midfield then hit the post with a great left foot shot after good hold up play from Ryan Williamson.
Banbridge looked like claiming the three points when Newry got an equaliser from close range in the last minute.
