It's now two defeats from two for Town, who lost to Portstewart on Saturday and Newington on Tuesday evening.

Banbridge Town were dumped out of the WASP Solutions League Cup by 10 man Newington in extra-time on Tuesday night.

Town were ahead before eventually losing 2-1. Mark Teggart struck to give them the advantage but Newington fought back to 1-1 before 90 minutes.

Despite being down to 10 men, Newington struck to snatch an extra-time victory just when it looked like the match was ebbing towards penalty-kicks.

Next up for Town is a trip to Lurgan Celtic on Saturday (kick-off 2pm). See this week’s LEADER for a full preview.
