Town need to end a long-running hoodoo at ‘Vady

After Saturday’s home defeat, they travel to take on title challengers Limavady United (kick-off 3pm) looking for their first league victory at the Limavady Showgrounds since 2008.

A win would go a long way to making up for last weekend’s disappointment and boss Ryan Watson knows his side need to pick up a positive result.

“The defeat to Glebe puts a lot of significance on this weekend’s match,” he told the ‘LEADER.’ “We have to get something up there.

“They were flying high last year and were unlucky not to go up so it’s a difficult game for anybody going up there. We need to perform to our maximum and take something from the game.”

Watson is hoping for a case of de ja vu, after Town bounced back from a disappointing home defeat to Portstewart on the opening day of last season.

“Something similar happened last year, when we lost our first match and then went to Lurgan Celtic, where we weren’t given much of a chance. We beat them 3-2 so hopefully we can do something similar this year,” he said.

Town will welcome David Gray back into the squad as Watson looks to make changes to his under-performing line-up.

“Some of our players didn’t do enough on Saturday,” he said. “Ideally, I’d like to have evrybody fit and abailable but we will still be able to tweak a few things because that level of performance wasn’t where we should be and that’s the bottom line.”
