Richie is new Co Down manager

County Down have appointed Paul Ritchie as their Junior manager ahead of the 2011 Milk Cup.

Ritchie, who was previously in charge over a four year period from 2004 to 2008, will again be assisted by Cliftonville coach Kyle Spiers.

The pair, who led County Down’s U15 side to a third place finish behind Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers three years ago, take over from John Bailie who was recently promoted to Premier manager.

Trials for the Junior squad are set to get underway over the next week. To qualify, boys must have been born on or after 1 January 1996. Furthermore, parents or guardians of players must currently live at an address in County Down.

If you are a coach or parent and you know of a player who has the ability to represent County Down at the world-renowned Milk Cup tournament, which will take place from 24 to 29 July 2011, be sure to contact the respective trial co-ordinator immediately with details of name, date of birth, address of parent/s, contact number, position played and club/school.

Trials for this area are co-ordinated by Linda McAdam (call or text 07814 127573).
