With all the possession Magerafelt had, they didn’t trouble Craig Robinson in the Rangers net with the best chance falling to Bradley Harper when Rangers broke on the counter attack. Jamie Carson crossed a perfect ball for Harper who outjumped his marker only for his header to fall inches wide. Magherafelt broke the deadlock when their striker broke the offside trap. His shot was saved by Robinson only for the rebound to fall kindly back to the striker who scored into an open net.

At half-time, Rangers made a few changes which seemed to reinvigorate the team with the combination play between, David Barr, Thomas Russell and Jamie Carson causing the Magherafelt defence trouble.

Rangers were soon on level teams when a corner from Matthew Dodds wasn’t cleared and the ball fell to David Barr inside the box for him to fire the ball home for his fourth goal in three games. Rangers took the lead when Bradley Harper scored a goal of the season contender, he won a free-kick when his trickery caused him to be fouled on the left touchline. Bradley took the free kick himself, with the ball sailing over the top of the keeper and into the top corner.

As Magherafelt pressed to get the equaliser, Rangers scored their third on the counter attack, with a quickly released ball from the back to Thomas Russell. He passed to David Barr who played an inch perfect through ball into the stride of Jamie Carson who controlled the ball with his first touch and smashed low and hard passed the keeper. It was a deserved three points for Rangers who worked hard to get back into the game.

Man of the Match was Matthew Dodds after his dominant performance in the centre of midfield.
