Babnbridge Town Juniors Football Club had a very successful weekend at the Dublin Cup International Tournament.

The most successful team in the small sided games was the Under-10s, managed by Johnny Kerr, Lee McGrath and Bobby Jones. They won the Under-10s league. The team was undefeated throughout the day, playing some excellent football and brought the Cup back to Banbridge.

Other success was the Under-9s team managed by Mark McMaster and Eric Annett. They finished runner-up in their section and played some terrific football.

The Under-8’s managed by Mark Kerr, who actually played a year up in the Under-9 section beat local side Banbridge Rangers in a play-off to finish third overall. Taking into consideration that some of these boys are only seven years of age this was a great achievement.

The Under-11s, managed by Tony McCreanor and Anthony Blackburn also performed very well and finished in third place, while the Under-16s team managed by Freddie Scappaticci and coached by Aaron Burns and Marty Morgan, as reported in last week’s Leader, were defeated in the Plate Final in the 11-a-side league.

A Town Juniors spokesperson said: “This was a great advert for Banbridge Town Juniors/Games Development Centre.

“Our success at the Dublin tournament further confirms the positive work of our managers and coaches and enhances the growing reputation that we are the number one junior football club in the area and the surrounding district.”

Banbridge Town Juniors/Games Development Centre would like to thank Bannstationers for sponsoring the printing of their registration forms for the new season.
