Cup victories are proving a little bit like opening a box of Pringles for Moneyslane’s club captain,

Now that Gareth Bingham has got his hands on one trophy at the club, he has absolutely no intentions of stopping there.

The Alan Wilson Cup had been a long time coming for the midfielder and he is hoping that winning will turn into a bit of a habit for his side.

“It was an absolutely fantastic feeling to lift the trophy in front of our big support,” he said.

“The match itself probably wasn’t that great a spectacle but lifting the trophy was amazing. After the defeat in the same final two years ago, I wanted to make sure we got our hands on it this time around..

“It’s a big step and something we have been looking to do for a while now. The atmosphere after the match showed what it meant to a lot of people. I hope now this is the first of many for the club.

“Next season without a doubt, we will be aiming for promotion and we want to retain our trophy too. Also with our Seconds getting promoted as champions for the second season in a row, there is a real momentum about the club.”

Bingham was also quick to praise the club’s fans, who turned out in their droves.

“The support was unreal,” he said. “During every stop in play, I had a look around and our fans never stopped from start to finish. The support they gave the team was immense and all the players commented on it after the game.

“It gave everyone such a lift and helped us through a nervy end to the match. Hats off to everyone who supported us.”
