On a bitter cold morning at Mallusk the Dromore U15’s faced Antrim Rovers.

With only 11 kids available to play, the U15’s struggled early on to find their tempo and retain possession with a number of kids playing in unfamilar positions.

The u15’s first goal came from a well crafted corner kick orchestrated by Michael McCavitt.

With plenty of movement in the box the Antrim defence struggled to clear their lines and the ball fell to Odhran Crozier who fired the ball home with venom.

The temperature was dropping everytime a snow shower appeared, but the U15’s didn’t let this bother them and they came out immediately after the restart blisteringly hot.

Within four touches of the ball the U15’s worked an opening and Michael McCavitt slotted the ball home with composure to make it 2-0.

Antrim Rovers made some subs in response to this scoreline and they looked more potent when attacking and really should have scored only for Callum Walker saving a one-on-one and Ben Scott and Jamie Gregg making last ditch tackles to thwart their golden chances.

Ben Scott nearly got himself on the scoresheet as he dribbled the full length of the pitch and got himself clear of the Antrim defence only to take a heavy touch just before he was going to shoot and the chance was lost.

In the end the U15’s fitness and great team work paid dividends as they weren’t under any duress for the final period of the game.

With the league leaders dropping points at the weekend the U15’s have closed the gap to them but they need to maintain their winning ways over the next couple of games. Squad C Walker, J Howard, J Gregg, B Scott, S Stewart, O Crozier, R Taylor, J Moore, H Thomas, M McCavitt and A Shelsher.
