Decor Cup campaign gets off to a flyer for the Amateurs U18s

Dromore Amateurs Youth u18’s got their new season under way with a superb victory over Lurgan team Sunnyside in the opening game in the Decor Cup.

As the game got under way Dromore were passing the ball about and McCully was first to attempt to break the deadlock when he narrowly shot wide following a pass from Mckinstry in midfield.

Sunnyside themselves were pushing and Morrison tipped a speculative effort over the bar.

All the hard work was to be undone though when Sunnyside went in front. The ball was played in from the left and the Centre forward slipped in and poked the ball home.

Manager Beck made changes at half time with McMurtry and Neill replacing the hardworking Finnegan and Bickerstaff.

Within minutes Dromore were level; the referee awarded a free kick and Campbell hit trade mark effort which sailed past the keeper. Confidence was growing and the pressure was all with dromore,

Dromore looked the most likely to score the next goal and Hunt got on the end of a great free kick from Charlie Donaghy to head past the keeper and make the score 2-1.

With the game going from end to end Mckinstry got on the end of a fine pass from Campbell, he picked the ball up, rode the challenge and lashed the ball across the keeper and into the net to make it 3-1. With five minutes remaining Dromore then made their final change when Connor Donaghy replaced mccully. Final score Dromore 3 - 1 Sunnyside.
