Best display of the season

TOWN Juniors Under 16s produced their best display of the season with a thrilling 2-1 win over near neighbours Hillsborough.

Playing with a strong wind behind them Town began strongly putting the Hillsborough defence under a lot of pressure and after six minutes they opened the scoring when Finn Campbell headed in from a David Gray corner.

Hillsborough responded with an equaliser three minutes later but Banbridge continued to pressurise as Josh Cargin went close with a low shot after a good through ball from Finn Campbell.

The Juniors took a deserved lead on 20 minutes when David Gray hit a free kick in from the left with great pace and the ball came off the head of a Hillsborough defender for an own goal.

Josh Cargin nearly made it three when Declan Loy put him through with a great ball but his well hit shot was saved by the keeper. In the second half Hillsborough now with the wind advantage began to pile on the pressure but Banbridge dug deep and defended well throughout the half with everyone playing their part in a victory which puts them joint top of the league table.

TEAM: William Maxwell, Niall McCreanor, Dylan Martin, Reece Milligan, David Gray, Michael Jordan, Gareth Orr, Declan Loy, Ryan Williamson, Finn Campbell, Josh Cargin, Stephen McCavitt.
