Banbridge Panthers Under 11’s and Dromore Amateurs Under 11’s played out an exciting 2-2 draw at the excellent 4G pitch at Annagh United.
Banbridge opened the scoring when a right wing cross flew into the top corner.
Dromore hit back when a shot by Bailey Wilson came back off the keeper and Jack Dumigan reacted quickest to turn the ball in from a narrow angle.
Dromore were now playing with confidence after a series of poor results, with the back three of Dawson Patterson, Alex Scott and Ryan Hamilton playing the ball out to their wingers, Ryan Mulgrew and Matthew McKinstry.
Dromore’s forwards, Cameron Long and Jack Dumigan proving a handful for the Banbridge defence. Play was moving fast from end to end but there were no more goals in the first half.
The second half, was the same as the first with fast end to end action and it was Dromore who went in front. Cameron Long and Stuart Whiltshire combined well for Whiltshire to hammer his shot into the net from close range.
Dromore keeper Matthew Stewart made some good saves to keep Dromore in front and wingers Ryan Mulgrew and Whiltshire kept up a good supply of passes to their strikers.
With five minutes left Banbridge levelled the score when a poor clearance from Dromore found a Banbridge forward who shot low into the net. Keeper Stewart came to Dromore’s rescue when he produced a great block to deny Banbridge who were clear through.
In the last minute Dromore almost won the game when a fierce shot by Bailey Wilson flew just past the upright with the keeper beaten. The final whistle came with a draw, a fair result in an excellent sporting game, well refereed by Tony McCreanor, coach of the Banbridge team. An excellent, very encouraging and well deserved Dromore performance with great team spirit.
