Emma in U17 netball squad

BANBRIDGE Academy netball player Emma Cartmill has been selected to represent Northern Ireland on the Under 17 squad in next month’s European Championships.

This is 16-year-old Emma’s second year training with the U17 NI squad and she has also been training with the U21 squad for several months. This week Emma was delighted to hear that she has made the final FENA selection.

Emma will be jetting off to Malta on 7th-11th March and representing Northern Ireland at U17 level, she will face England, Scotland, Wales and Malta.

Emma has faced intense selection processes since September, as selectors gradually whittled the squad down to 12 top players.

Year 12 student Emma commented, “It was hard trying to fit in training for two squads, first XI hockey matches, Banbridge Netball Club and school work, but it has definitely been worth it in the end.

“I’m really looking forward to the FENA tournament and travelling with the team to Malta.”
