Dunbarton's start is still perfect thanks to another league victory

The Randalstown team have been a thorn in the side of the locals in the past, but a strong Dunbarton performance racked up another six points with a 36 shot win.

On rink one, Dunbarton’s Chris Trainor, Michael Merritt, Gary McElroy and Conor McCartan were up against former Ireland skip Neil Booth. The Old Bleach four certainly made home advantage count with an impressive 25-16 win. At five end they were 4-3 ahead but immediately scored six shots on the sixth end. They were never behind from this point onwards and secured a valuable point.

On rink two, Michael Higgins, Tony Bell, Andy Hughes and Myles Greenfield were the stand out rink for the home side when they played skip Stephen Kirkwood. It was a comfortable afternoon for Greenfield’s rink, who led 12-0 by five ends. By 15 ends, there was no sign of a comeback with the home side 27-3 ahead and finished the game with a scoreline of 34-8.

David Copeland, Jack Moffett, Peter Convery and Derick Wilson had an afternoon to forget on rink three against skip Neil Mulholland. Normally a rink which has become so reliable for the home team, on Saturday the Dunbarton four had one of their off days. Things weren’t to get any better when at 15 ends they were 8-15 behind. They lost 13-18.

On rink four Chris Mulholland, Kieran Trainor, Alan Paul and Martin Trainor played skip Michael Nutt. Trainor’s rink certainly started better and could have been further ahead than 9-7 at 10 ends. In the second last end when 18-13 in front, Marty had to play a superb last bowl with a count of five against, when he trailed the jack for a count of two. They were to finish 21-15 winners.
