Connor and Rory are the stars of Ulster's Inter-Provincial win

THE Inter-Provincial Golf Championships were played at Ballinrobe Golf Club in County Mayo last week.

Ulster emerged as champions, having beaten Connacht 9.5–1.5, Leinster 9-2 and Munster 7-4.

Banbridge had two representatives on the Ulster team and they both performed brilliantly.

Connor Doran won all his six matches, his three singles and then three foursomes in partnership with Paul Cutler.

Rory Leonard partnered Steven Crowe in the foursomes and they won all three matches.

Rory won two of his singles and he beat Brian O’Donovan of Munster 8 and 7 on the final day.

Connor was the top scorer with his six wins out of six and Rory was next best with five wins out of six.

The Irish selectors, who were looking on, surely must have been impressed with Connor and Rory.

The Irish team will be announced tomorrow (Wednesday) and everyone is confident that both Connor and Rory make the team. Here’s hoping!
