Clubs invited to Mini-Games Seminar

SUNDAY, January 27 will see the Southern Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Armagh Sports Forum and Sport Northern Ireland, deliver a Mini-Games Seminar at Orchard Leisure Centre in Armagh from 10am-4pm.

The event has been organised to give sports clubs and coaches from across the region the opportunity to listen to the latest developments in respect of mini-games and also to view interactive sessions delivered by expert coaches.

The Mini-Games Seminar is open to coaches, administrators and policy-makers from clubs and organisations that wish to listen to, discuss and observe the latest developments in relation to mini-games or small-sided games.

It has been organised to ensure an integrated approach to mini-games can be achieved for those involved across the Southern Sports Partnership region.

The event will involve a keynote address by Shane McCullough – University of Ulster; followed by case studies from Keith Gibson – Irish FA, Willie Gribben – IRFU; Dr Eugene Young – Ulster GAA and Angela Platt – Ulster Hockey. The afternoon will see interactive coaching sessions delivered by Terence McWilliams – Ulster GAA and Sergio Lara-Bercial – Leeds Metropolitan University.

A spokesperson said, “If your club has not yet got involved in mini-games and would like to learn more or if you are involved but would like to improve your club’s approach this session is for you.

“There will be opportunities to hear how each sport has approached the subject and the challenges and successes that this has brought.

“Coaching clinics will also offer the opportunity to see live how mini-games should be approached from an all encompassing coaching ethos. Mini-games is not just games, its your ethos, approach to and delivery throughout your coaching or development of your club/league.

“Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Places are limited and bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. To book a place call 028 3831 4470 or Email info@southernsports.co.uk.
