Carnbane action for Slane U9s

MONEYSLANE U9s were in action at the weekend playing three games at the Carnbane Complex.

First up Damolly and Slane were up for this game playing good football from the first whistle.

Slane went one goal down on the fifth minute when a corner was swung in and eluded everyone at the front post. Marc Cochrane hit wide when he was picked out by a good pass from Joseph Weir.

Damolly stretched their lead with a well taken goal but Slane kept the pressure on and were rewarded with a goal when Luke Cochrane cleared his lines and Cochrane hit on the half volley and the ball sailed into the bottom corner of the net.

Andrew Megaw squared to Kerri Hanna and she played it up the line to Sam Bailey who picked out Cochrane who hit sharply on the turn but his effort went wide. Megan Davis also had and great effort but it just went wide of the upright.

Thomas Bell pulled off a great save to keep the score at two one going into the break.

Damolly came out the second half and scored two quick goals but Slane had the never say die attitude and Niall Martin had a shot deflected wide for a corner and Cochrane swung in it to the near post and it sailed into the net. Cochrane was full of running and pegged back another goal with a thunderous shot from well outside the box to bring the score back to 4-3 and hit his third of the game.

With minutes remaining Damolly scored another goal to put the game beyond Slane.

Final score 5-3

Overall a great team performance by all the Slane young guns and best on the day was Marc Cochrane who scored three goals.
