Big Ballyvally turnout for Bluebell shoot

With the good weather at the weekend, 72 Ballyvally archers entered the 18th annual Bluebell shoot.

Some excellent scores were recorded by Ballyvally senior and junior squad members.

The score of the weekend must be Robert Mallon who shot a magnificent 702 to break two UK records.

Eleanor Walsh [Cub girl barebow under 12] shot 414. Sian Heaney [minor girl barebow under 15] shot 430 and junior squad member Matthew Beattie [boys barebow] shot an excellent 594.

Stuart McCullough [boys compound barebow u15] shot 558 while Amanda Byrne at her first field shoot shot a very good 472 in ladies compound unlimited.

John Lennon did the best in the gents beginner section coming 2nd with 508 [narrowly missing 1st place.

Marion Patterson won the ladies compound barebow section with 532 while Mark Nesbitt in excellent form won the gents freestyle with 725.

Meanwhile, the All British and Open Field archery championship is now only three weeks away, hosted by Ballyvally archery club for the fifth time.

Ballyvally members who will be shooting in the “Open” are reminded that the next outdoor practice for this tournament will be on Wednesday night between 5.30 and 8.30pm.
