Athletes battle against the conditions
WELL done from Banbridge AC to everyone who took part in the Antrim International XC on Saturday January 21 at Greenmount.
With heavy rain leading up to the event, the conditions were hard going but this did not stop the hardy Banbridge athletes.
Patrick McNiff got off to a great start for Banbridge AC with a fantastic eight second win in the boy’s U13 1800m race, with Ben McConnell also having a great first XC race, finishing 22nd.
In the U15 girls 3600m race, Anna Lyttle came 28th with Amy Smyth and Victoria Bushby finishing 44th and 45th.
For the boys, Craig McConnell and Josh Black finished 27th and 38th in the U15 race.
Ciara Grimley had a great race in the U17 girls, securing 14th place.
In the primary schools race Ruby McNiff came 25th and Niamh Grimley 38th. In the boy’s race Rory McNiff finished 10th and Kyle Smyth 49th.
It was fantastic for the Banbridge team to compete alongside the elite athletes like Fionnula Britton and Mike Kigen. A great day was had by all.
