ON Saturday October 13 Dromore Ladies first XI came up against a strong Carrick side at Ferris Park.
With the usual high tension rivalry between the two sides it was set to be quite the match!
Dromore came out of the blocks full force with many strong attacks from the midfield of Nicole Lavery, Christine Robinson and Anna Martin into the forward line of Rachel Morrow, Emma Wilson, Lauren Pedlow and Veronica Cummins.
After various near misses and some excellent saves Dromore won a short corner which was converted into the goal by Emma Wilson.
Carrick however stepped it up a gear and began to press hard with some telling attacks forcing the Dromore defence of Jo Wilkinson, Gemma Porter, Claire Elliot, captain Tara Malcolmson and goal keeper Emma Clelland to work hard, which they did ably, and feeding the ball out of the defence for yet more Dromore attacks.
With just minutes to go before the half time whistle Dromore where unfortunate to concede leaving the score 1-1 at half time.
With a strong team talk at half time Dromore where ready to come out and reclaim their lead.
Carrick too came out with the same determination with the result of both teams making strong attacks and creating chances in the circle.
With just five minutes on the clock a great shot from Rachel Morrow put the Ladies back in front. With some strong defensive work in the last minutes of the game Dromore held on to their lead and won the game for another three points in the league.
