DROMORE Amateurs Ladies advanced to the semi-final of the league cup after coming out on top in this closely contested match.
A second half goal by the in-form Amanda Morton was all that separated the two sides.
With Dromore sitting two points below their opponents in the league it was always going to be a closely contested affair.
In the opening exchanges of the match it was Dromore who started on top but made little of their extra possession. As the half went on DC grew into the game more but, like Dromore, they failed to make any chances of note.
It wasn’t until the second half, when Dromore upped the tempo, that the first goal came. Amanda Morton had been denied by a great save after cutting in from the left and beating a few defenders but she wasn’t to be denied again. A ball over the top by Louise Kelly was controlled by Amanda and then placed past the keeper to give the locals a deserved lead.
Dromore continued to press but they couldn’t carve out any more chances however at the other end goalkeeper Michelle Stephens didn’t have to make a single save in the second half thanks to a great defensive performance.
The other teams to make it through to the semi-finals are Armagh City, who beat neighbours Loughgall Lakers 4-1; Limavady, who beat North-West rivals Coleraine 3-2; and Cliftonville, who eased past Derry 3-0. The draw is yet to be made for the semi-finals.
